Kol-Tor is one of the most wonderful lakes of the Northern Tien Shan. The lake is located in the fascinating gorge of the same name in the intermountain cavity of the Terskey Ala-Too Range at an altitude of 3050 meters above sea level.
Kol-Tor is famous for its unusually beautiful turquoise color. While glacier starts melting, It washes away the soil and grinds stones and rocks into dust, that’s why the lake sparkles in bright sunlight with a green-blue color. From time to time the bowl of the lake overflows, then excess water flows out, and the stream that goes to the ground.
